Max Hendrickson had just successfully completed his second year in the film programme at the Institute.

As a close-knit community of students and staff, especially those who would have taught and worked with Max in the National Film School, we want to express our profound sympathies to Max’s family and his many friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“We are greatly saddened and distressed to hear of the tragic passing of one of our students, Max Hendrickson, in an accident in Thailand. Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this dreadful loss. Max was a remarkably talented student and a valued member of the IADT community,” said David Smith, IADT’s President.

“Max was among the most unique and truly brilliant students to study here at the National Film School. He was a brilliantly talented animator and an extraordinary young filmmaker who had already received recognition nationally and internationally for his films. We are utterly devastated to hear of his death,” said Vanessa Gildea, Lecturer in Film & Television at IADT.

We are also very conscious that two young people lost their lives in this accident, and our thoughts go out to both families. We respect their desire and request for privacy and confidentiality at this time.
