The Gentle Artist: Records of Experience by Aoife Balfe will screen at the OFFline Film Festival in Offaly this weekend, followed by a screening at the Disappear Here Film Festival in Donegal on 17th October. Aoife’s project has also been named a finalist in the Clones Film Festival Short Fiction, Animation & Documentary Competition in Monaghan on 22nd October and has received an Honourable Mention at the New York Short Animation Festival, taking place on 24th October.

Further international exposure will follow on 9th November, when the film features in the online programme of the Liverpool-based Starling Film Festival.

The Gentle Artist: Records of Experience was also selected and shown in Festival Internacional de Cine y Multimedia in Argentina in March and won Best Student Film and was screened as part of Inland Independent Film Festival in Brazil in June.

Aoife’s success is a fantastic example of the creativity, ambition and quality of work being produced on IADT’s MA Animation programme. The programme provides a supportive and creatively challenging environment for animators to develop their individual artistic practice, experiment with storytelling and bring distinctive projects to life.

The growing recognition of The Gentle Artist: Records of Experience on the national and international festival circuit highlights the calibre of work emerging from the MA Animation programme and its contribution to contemporary animation practice.

Congratulations to Aoife on this wonderful achievement and on showcasing the exceptional creative talent fostered at IADT!
